“Be the change you wish to be.”

Dalai Lama, Mind in Comfort and Ease: The Vision of Enlightenment

I just had a few simple thoughts from today.

I recently went to Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam. It’s a beautiful palace, built by an old king of Prussia. This king received a lot of pressure from his father throughout his life to be strong and ruthless, caring only for victory in war. However, the king saw that life was much more than military success. He designed a palace to his liking, tying in nature, music, wine, and other things that made his life happy.

I’ve been thinking about this king’s story and how it applies to spirituality. I think a beautiful thing about life is that we can choose what we are surrounded with; at least, we can choose the thoughts we are surrounded with. We have so much within our control.

I also went on a tour of a chocolate factory today; it was a different and new way of seeking the sacred. Strangely, something that stood out to me was the way people there were willing to share their passion with all of us. These are people that are surrounded daily with something they are passionate about. And it spiritually uplifts them.

I don’t know how I can better involve what uplifts me in my day to day life. I’m trying to do better at reading scripture daily, which is helping. And making sure I get at least one sweet treat every day.

What things do you surround yourself with to stay spiritually connected? Let me know!
